I finally heard back to Dansco yesterday regarding my question about whether they'll make an edited page for the 8100 album with holes for all 20 varieties of the 2009 cents. Here's their reply:

Mr. Sproul,

At this time, our 8100 page 9 has four locations for the 2009-P, D S and proof coins, repeating itself four times. We asked distributors and general public what would be the best configuration for this page and this is what they came up with; even though they came out with different alloyed coins. Most distributors thought that people would leave the alloyed coins in their sets to retain their value.

We offer blank Lincoln cent title pages if you wish, but these would not fit into your album, so if you wished to store these additional coins, you would have to get another binder. Then you could custom print on the binder anything you wish. Two lines on the front and one on the spine.

We hope this information has been helpful.

Please contact us direct at 323-734-6373 M-F, 7am to 3:30pm.

Thank you for choosing Dansco and for your continued patronage.

Sincerely,

Customer Service

The Dansco Corp.

I sent them a long reply basically making a few points:

1. I asked if they're planning on continuing the 8100 album with the 2010+ design. I know there are already holes for a few years in the current last page, but I don't know if that binder could hold any more pages. It seems like a reasonable place to cut it off to me. My point in asking this is that if they were to redo the last page with 20 holes instead of 12 holes for the 2009 cents, it would cause a need for two versions of every subsequent page (since the 8 extra holes would shift everything forward). But if the album were to end at this point, then it wouldn't matter, since there would be no more pages to add.

4. I asked if they'd reconsider their decision on this page if enough collectors wanted a version with 20 holes. I personally think it comes down to consistency. If they're going to have holes for both compositions in 1982, the same should be true for 2009.

Any thoughts?

Kris
