Good Point! It seems like the only thing special at this point about the set would be the paper packaging. The same coins would be available in regular offerings, perhaps at a sizable discount...
whew...FINALLY got my coins, ordered them Feb. 28th. Waiting on the medals, and then I'm probably gonna FAIL at getting the set, but I'm gonna try I suppose...I'll just have to call it in or something. Anyway, I'm just happy that i finally got them!
It's all packaging and hype. By the time you figure out that you've overspent ...everyone has already made their money.
Yep, I saw last night when I got online to check some of my orders. It's still showing to be available, whether or not they end up shipping them is another question. Dang, I have a lot of orders they need to produce and get shipped! I wish they would have ended sales on this sooner, and used some of the silver and effort to produce that 1/2 ounce silver eagle in your other thread Elaine. That coin would look SO awesome, and these Silver Lincolns would be worth more.
I've heard stories that there are returns because the coin quality is not great. I received an uncirculated unit with a dark toned splash over part of the reverse. I did send it back.
Just recieved my 2 Lincolns in the mail. One proof and one uncirculated. The proof looks amazing. I was a little dissapointed though, it seemed like the proof had some dust under that plastic protecter. I don't believe this will be a problem, but I was wondering if that is normal?
Elaine, what 5 coin set? I've been looking around for a Lincoln commemorative 5 coin set and can't find one.:goofer:
It hasn't been released yet and the mint hasn't announced the release date either. I think what she was saying is that 50000 of the proof silver dollars have been reserved for the set. But they haven't been released yet.
It's not listed yet at the mint web site but is rumored to be released later this year. Stay tuned for updates regarding this item as Elaine is well known to have the scoop on such offerings.
the unc were over 10,000 plus sold. the mint have to cancel those. and offer 10,000 plus for the proof. that is why the proof is still selling as of this writing.
