It figures they'd be sold out. I just read a blurb on the Lincoln $1 sliver coins and the writer thought that the mint goofed making so many with the economy and all. Well shoot that down. Does anyone have an idea what the going rate now might be for MS70's and PF70's?
the last I looked on the bay... about a week ago and prices fluctuate... MS 70's were in the ninety dollar range and proofs more than a c note each. I'm not surprised that the Lincoln's have sold out so quickly--- the absence of the proof and UNC numismatic silver eagles (w mint mark)--- positioned the Lincoln very well for silver bugs like myself. I bought 16 proofs and 12 burnished (UNC) Lincoln's to have some spares:goof:
You don't want the proof I just sent back... had a water mark on the left side on the obverse in the mirrored field. I can't really complain--- it's the first coin I have ever had to send back to the mint. But it does make me wonder what they do with the returns Hence I hate to buy at the tail end... you just never know.
WOW! I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I haven't said anything about this on here, but the same thing happened to me. Big 'ol water mark at 10-11 o'clock on the obverse. I ended up trading that and placed another order for another one. I received an email on Easter Sunday that my new Proof had shipped. Hmmmm.... glad the see the mint is hard at work! :goof:
Good for you. Enjoy them cause I think this is a great commem. Can you tell me if the Licolns have a ridged edge as do the quarters or is it smooth? THANKS
friend of mine ordered his coins first day available, got his confirmation reserved for him, just got an email yesterday, weeks later that they were sold out and order was cancelled.
Sorry, not first day available, my mistake, that was the silver territories quarters first day available, he ordered at that same time and got the email confirmation that it was "in stock and reserved" Then he got this email monday almost 3 weeks later. So what is he not letting on to me about? Greetings from the United States Mint. Thank you for ordering from the United States Mint. We regret to inform you that the item(s) listed below are currently sold out. A customer service representative will be happy to assist you in finding an alternative item. Order # 315XXXXX - 1 Sold To WXXXX, ERIC Ship To WXXXX, ERIC Item: LN7 Qty: 2 2009 LINCOLN PROOF SILVER DLR
everyone who ordered their lincolns on the first day got them. if he ordered it late and the supplies ran out then of course he wont get them.
I think the issue was getting a confirmation that it was in stock and reserved for him, getting his card authorized for the full amount and then 3 weeks later saying sorry they are sold out.
that happens all the time my card has been charged thrice and the charges dropped 3 times and of course no shipment, and yes its not the best customer service. my braille has moved so many times that i think it will never ship and i would not be surprised if they canceled my order because of overbooking thankfully it hasnt happened yet. also i am usually the last to receive my coin, first to order and the mint charges me more than they charge most others on the forum
Yea, he order the braille coins too, still says reserved, we will see what happens too, I am still supposedly reserved for the quarters and the ASE dollar set with the W ASE, but who knows, I can't even see my orders online.
Well, I did it again. I just returned a set (MS70,PF70) and they had smooth rims. Looked like there was reeding but only on the coin surface. Looking as best I could at the rim edge it looked very smooth, mirror surface like.. Maybe it was the ANACS's plastic holder but it definately looked flat. Oh why oh why didn't I wait for your answer.
If the coin was slabbed, sometimes the plastic/rubber holder in the slab makes the coin look like it has a smooth rim when it actually doesn't.
Let me explain. I double checked by looking at other 2009 Lincoln Commemoratives using ANACS plastic slabs on various internet sites. Some slabs clearly showed reeding while others not so much but you could sdtill tell it was there. Then I looked at the new NGC holders, no problem seeing reeding. But on the ones I had it was not so clear. Reeding looked irregular and appeared to me to be only on the edge of the coin. Here are some pictures of what I'm trying to explain. Next post.
