braille commemorative dollars: proof - 116,121 unc - 43,491 easy open - 18,687 the 50,000 unc braille eduction set won't be a sell out i think.....
easy open belong to uncirculated. total unc 62,744. but you have to add brailles eductaional unc set. max 25,000.
easy open unc brailles commems might be the lowest of all modern commemorative silver dollar behind 1992 atlanta olympic.
Elaine, the easy open uncs are the same as the regular uncs so you are still looking at a mintage of over 60k. That is not low by any standards. Also, it is the 95/96 Atlanta Olympic coins. 92 was a different Olympic coin.
Any up to date thoughts in advance of the Braille Education Set [BR4] release on 10/08/2009? Contains the Unc. Braille Silver Dollar, 25,000 sets produced, 1 per household, $44.95 Will the BR4 be a flop, under selling the 25K units, and become a 'sleeper' as a specially packaged set? The rest of the coins are at higher mintages and don't seem to be selling out on the Mint web site, with NO household limits: BR1 $41.95 BR2 $33.95 BR3 $33.95
brailles latest figures: proof - 122,661 unc - 45,326 easy open - 20,390 total unc 65,716 50,000 braille educational unc set. this will add some to the unc total.. thus this series. the proof will be consider few.
elaine, the Mint web site says, "The Braille Education Set is limited to a production total of 25,000." Which is it? 25k or 50k? Does 25k change your thinking about this coin?
you're right. 25,000 set. no. i won't buy this one. try to get the lincoln proof set coming out oct. 15.
I think that a dud is a dud in the world of coins no matter the mintage total. I don't see this coin ever becoming very valuable above the silver content. Sorry.
