is it me or does it look like more and more of the ebay listings are going unsold and/or selling for less than they did a few weeks ago? would you recommend picking up the coins at current levels? the pf70 set = 9000 the ms70 set = 7000 if you buy them loose, it looks like they can be had for about 5-10% less. any thoughts?
If you're going to buy 'em, buy 'em ungraded...... raw. Better yet, buy 'em from the mint when they're available. You have to be totally off your rocker to pay that kind of scratch for a one ounce bullion coin.
I am a bit of a 2008-W buff myself and recently picked up two gold purchases and one silver on eBay at lower prices. Can't say if it's a trend or not, but vigilant watching can have its rewards. Personally, I think it's a waste of good money to buy certified bullion coins. I prefer to buy raw in Mint boxes. Pretty mint boxes will mean more than slabs to the type of buyer who will likely be interested in these coins if we have to sell in the future. On the silver side, I had mixed emotions about the Mint's recent announcement to resume proofs and unc in 2010. I was hoping to get a little life out of my 2008-Ws.
I checked the US Mint site and saw that there is "Information on..." the ASE Proof and UNC in the "What's New" tab but it kicks you right to what they have had posted for months.
Well, I do know they are accepting subscriptions for the proof and uncirculated issues for 2010.....:smile
