Gah, I could cry. Someone asked me the question 'when you rotate the coin horizontally, does the obverse look upside down to the reverse'. Thinking it was the case with all US coins i still got up to go check and that's when I saw it had gone.
After I made that post i decided to just have another look. I keep my coins in a chest of drawers, and I had a flashbulb moment which paid off. When pulling out my drawer of coins the box with the coin in was dragged off the back of the drawer and fell down the back. Of course when trying to search for it earlier I searched through the draw but not under it. I asked around college and work today asking people if they had seen a box with a coin in it. What a lame. I last saw it on friday when I took it to show my girlfriends mother it (she's a collector too). I thought I may have misplaced it in some of the other places i visited that day. Too bad the bright idea came after trashing my room and rest of the house looking for it.
i am glad you found it. otheriwse i would have sent you one if i had any extras but it all worked out. all's well that ends well.
Even if you look at this ngc image, the 2008 reverse pictured has a more polised eagle that the 2007 reverse. EDIT: This was supposed to be posted in the '3 varieties' thread.
yeah 2 out of 3 is not bad i have one variety that is the rev proof and 3 regulars so i guess i am ok
