I found this yesterday roll-searching. It puzzles me how the protrusion on the reverse can be pointed, but the obverse is smooth and no indentation is observed. Did the Planchet have the issue before the minting process. I need error experts to explain how this can occur. I know the pictures are not the best, but any input is appreciated. Maybe a bit of solder material that was added on?

Any issue on the planchet would of been flattened when the blank was struck. It's not clad so it can't be an extreme heat bubble issue.

Thanks paddyman, I did not consider your response. It is a possibility.

When I first was this, I was thinking error. Until I took a second look.

Yeah, the photos threw me also and then I figured it out. OP should have cropped first couple of photos to show only the coin with no background.
I also vote for material added, not a mint error.
