From what I've been able to find in "public" arenas (coin forums, Ebay, coin retailers) there have only been the reverse variety on the unc. "W" coins; however I did read in another forum that someone claimed to have many of the 2008 bullion ASE with the 2007 reverse, but there is no tangible proof yet the regular bullion with the 2007 reverse exists. If it exists I'm sure we'll see one go for some astronomical price on Ebay.

Btw, I admit that I bought a "W" reverse of 2007 today for $150. Maybe I threw $100 away, or maybe I got a bargain. That's just part of this hobby. I'm an ASE collector and I just need one for my collection. Now that word is out on the reverse variety it will be harder to get one at issue price. The coin shops will probably search their supplies, and the Mint may be selling everyone's returns that were searched over.

The Mint may continue to offer the 2 varieties, but even if I buy 100 will I be lucky enough to get one with the 2007 reverse?

Maybe I overpaid, maybe I didn't, but owning the coin will give me enjoyment to look at it, and compare it against my other 2008 W's. Congrats to those of you who got one or more from the Mint! Let's see what the 2007 reverse goes for in a few weeks, months and years from now.
