On obverse the word trust has half of a "U" under the U. Any opinions?

It's possible that it could be the left half of the "U", but I can't be 100% positive from that image. ~ Chris

I see nothing but possibly some die deterioration.

I will post better pics. Looking thru my loupe it is a half u. It's not pmd. Dropped half U is my guess. Die deterioration is normally evidenced by flow lines and/or orange peel and i see neither in that area.

To me the U in TRUST looks normal. I looked at several of my other state Quarters and I see no difference. Except for that small black stain on the bottom and right side of the U.

Definitely a strike and not a stain. Are these better pics?

I can see clearly that part of the stain goes over the U. First and second pic.
The coin is worn and damaged, looking for errors on coins in this condition is Futile.

I think that for some this might fly right over their head.

I respect you guys opinion. Yes i see where it crosses the U, but do you see the warped right left of U at point of crossing? I think it's from the strike.(middle pic).

    NO!
A damaged coin is just that damaged.
If you have to search for it or try to convince yourself it isn't worth the time.
Errors stick out like a sore thumb. There is zero need to search for them.

You my friend are one that can't be reasoned with and that's a tragedy. So, a stain happen to be crossing at that point where damage was already present and take the appearance of a half U. It's easier to say pmd when you don't want to consider the whole picture. Yes, there appears to be a stain there, there also is a distortion of the U and only the U. Did the stain cause it or was it struck during the minting process. We try to determine what could or couldn't happen in the mint. Many thanks!

Yes the picture are better but they just reenforce what I'm saying. I see a full normal U. It has a small place with PMD on the right post. That U looks just like every other U in TRUST on my Quarters, except for that stain and that stain plays tricks on my eyes.

We will agree to disagree on this one until i have it checked out.

You just had it checked out by multiple people, who all know how the minting process works, and what errors look like. You ignored them.
