It is strange how they made the exact same error the next day after it had been corrected. If they bought these from the mint, then they are not really loosing any money just not making any. All these people ordering them should have set off some red flags.

Thanks. I was just curious if they honored any orders over 5 coins.

You have seen their normal prices, right? They are charging $41.95 for a clad 2006 proof set when one can easily be obtained for around $25. They charge $26.95 for an uncirculated ASE when they go for about $15. They are widely known for their inflated prices. Don't cry for them...you know they are still making money.

I am not crying. Quite the contrary. I am one of those who knowingly ordered these coins at the "error" price. However, let's wait to see if these actually ship. Then, I'll be very happy!! :thumb:

just got this e-mail from littleton, why don't they just say they screwed up?

    Dear Mr. Beers,

    Thank you for contacting us.

All of us at Littleton Coin Company sincerely appreciate your business. As you know, we make every effort to honor all prices as printed in our catalogs and circulars. However, due to the fluctuating nature of the coin and collectibles market, prices and availability are subject to sudden change without notice.

The 2006-W American Silver Eagle Dollar Uncirculated (5788.81) that you ordered has experienced some of these market fluctuations with a dramatic increase in price. The current price is $70.00. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Please contact us, at your earliest convenience, through email or by calling our friendly Customer Service Department regarding your order. Our toll free number is 1-800-645-3122. Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

    Sincerely,
    Erica

    Littleton Sucks!!!

I just got off the phone and was informed my order at $28.50 for 20 coins WILL NOT BE HONORED and the price I'd have to pay is NOW $70.!! I asked about the 5 coin max and was told NO WAY would they adhere to that option!!!!!!!!! I CANCELLED MY ORDER!!!!!!

The profit they MAY make by this action will surely be offset by the bad will it will create and ensuing loss of business!!

I'm very glad now that I didn't have a chance to get aggravated. I missed the ordering window.

Ordered 110 coins yesterday but was told that none would be shipped. Was not offered 5-coin option.

Furthermore, the Littleton representative stated that given the nature of its products (coins with fluctuating price), its standard policy is that it does not honor ANY of the priced shown on the website. Confirmation of the prices is done on a case by case basis, according to this representative.

I will file a formal complaint at the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org)

like everyone else here ,i can live with someone or some company saying "sorry we had a problem or we screwed up,but because littleton did not have my phone # they made up this little story:

What I find utterly unacceptable is Littleton's position that it will not stand by ANY of the prices shown on its website.

I would like to see how the Better Business Bureau will deal with Littelton's business conduct.

the funny thing is that say the got a thousand orders of these @ 28.50
they paid maybe 18.00 ea. tops! they would make $10,500.00 in a couple hours and i don't know about you but i'd be checking out there site very often, and as we all know if you have alot of folks hitting your site they are going to spend $$$$ this could have been such a positive for littleton and they would have made $$$ too!.....go figure.. :desk:

They will give me my 3 that I ordered. I guess that they are not honoring the big orders.

That is a common business practice. Really, they can decide not to honor ANY of the orders.

I missed out on ordering this coin from the mint and I am debating whether to buy one or more on the secondary market. I did get 10 of the 20th anniversary SAE sets so I actually have this coin in my sets but not alone, in a nice pouch and box. Just to let you know, I did sell 3 of the sets, at the original $100 issue price, to fellow collectors who missed out on the 20th Anniversary sets or were waitlisted by the Mint but whose orders did not get filled.

My big dilemma and question is this.

    Do I buy 1-2 of these 2006 W SAEs?

Do I spend the money instead on a graded 2006 Reverse Proof coin (I think these might be great long term investments). You can't find these ungraded or I would buy that.

Do I buy neither and just wait for something new?

I'm not wealthy but make a decent living. I just want to buy smart.

Also, I love the Australian lunars and a website I used to buy from pretty regularly had the price of the 1 oz silver Goat below spot so I ordered 50 of them. I got e-mail confirmation of my purchase and payment (automated of course) but 2 days later, I received an e-mail stating there was a computer glitch and my $500 payment would be refunded. They wouldn't even sell me one so it doesn't surprise me that Littleton won't honor their posted price on this 2006 W SAE.

My latest conversation with a Littleton rep was about an hour or so ago. I was told my order will be processed but it is "backordered". They have them in the building. The rep reinterated the purchase price. She checked with a "supervisor" and I was confirmed that I will get the order. My view on this is the same as it is every other time I placed an order that is considered in high demand and with limited quantity: I have them only when they are in my hand.

    CoinMeister,
May I ask how many you ordered?

I answered that earlier....I ordered 5. I have not received any emails or phone calls that stipulate any alteration in my original order of $28.50 each. I called Littleton several times today and each time I was assured that I would get the product in full. Time will tell. If I get a call or email from Littleton, I will post. If I get my order and it is the '06 W silver Unc...I will also post.
