The mint uses the term Unc instead of business strike because in the case of the American Eagle coins business strike is a misnomer since the coins don&#039;t actually circulate. But since Unc is a term which describes a condition, I think it is misleading as well. The terms business strike and Proof describe a method of manufacture, not a condition.
