I considered listing a set of 2006 $5 notes on ebay- the colour and black & white editions of the same year. However, I haven’t seen any listings where the notes are sold as a set. Is it worth listing the notes, or should I just spend them?
This is a neat idea but both varieties are still readily available in circulation so I'd say these are spenders given their condition. I feel that crisp uncirculated examples would be desirable to the right collectors, however.
If you should decide to list them, and you do find a buyer for anything more than face value, please do not mention that you are a member of Coin Talk. We have enough crazies, here, already. Chris
You’ll enjoy paper money collecting more if you spend less time dwelling on values and more time on the history and background behind the currency. There’s an interesting story behind the series 2006 $5 notes. I started a thread last year on a different forum concerning these notes. http://www.papermoneyforum.com/post/the-other-2006-5-9801113?pid=1304926161
Nice idea but they are spenders and any paper collector would know that. Not worth the fees you'd end up paying.
I always thought that it was odd that both designs were Series 2006. The colorized version should have been Series 2006-A or something like that, IMHO. Runner up for weirdness was the Series 2006-A $100 notes.
