On the reverse the picture is distorted and the quarter makes a different sound when compared to other quarters if that makes sense. Thank you
Trying hard not to be insensitive, but you do live in Nebraska, and this coin looks to be damaged from excessive heat: i.e. fire damage. I commiserate with you and the entire state of Nebraska over their recent wildfires.
I agree with extreme heat damage. It affected the Cupronickel clad layer. It's not a mint error of any kind unfortunately.
