Only 74K bullion made. http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/buffalo24k/ This is mintage stats for Buffalo gold. End of Nov Mint made 304,000 total coins. 230,000 of these are Proofs 74,000 would be Bullion.
Wrong 304,500 Bullions and 232K proof Well, let’s take the new 24-karat Buffalo gold coin introduced in June. The fact that it is pure gold is meant to attract Far Eastern buyers who do not like the less pure 22-karat American Eagle gold coins. They did not exactly storm the Mint demanding a supply. So far, the uncirculated bullion production totals 304,500 one-ounce coins. Collectors have taken up 232,000 proof coins individually, or about 40 percent of the initial demand for the combined total so far. The first year of the American Eagle in 1986 saw collectors buy 24 percent of the supply.
I'm hoping the US Mint runs out of the proof coins soon and the price goes up. I bought two of them last year the day they were released. I've never purchased gold coins before, but I thought it might be a good investment. Hope I was right. I just checked on eBay and they're selling between $750 and $780 for the 24K proof coins.
The limit of 300,000 proofs did not sell out. The 2006 Proof buffalos are still for sale at the mint($800) until they sell off what they made. Probably another 5 to 10K. Total mintage for the proofs should be around 240,000.
I show the 2007 Gold Proof One Ounce coin coming out Feb 5. Is this not correct? TIA. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProdschedView?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001
