2005 Silver Proofs

My set was the same 2 inch crack over the Kanas quarter. I wonder if the machine sealing the case was doing the damage.

I ordered mine directly from the Denver Mint gift shop. Call and ask for Virgina.

 

2005 Proof Set errors

I just received three 2005 silver proof sets from the U.S. Mint. There are errors on the obverse of the "Joy" nickles. It looks like a small teardrop depression to the left of the date. Only the "Joy" nickles have the error it is not on the "Buffalos" in any of the sets." Also the California Quarter in one set has a tiny (half the size of a pin head) dark greenish "rock" imbedded next to the foot of John Muir. Has anyone else come across these types of errors?

 

Regarding the coin shops at the mints, I have used the Denver Mint shop from time to time.

It has been a complicated (and silly) procedure. First, a guard takes me through the tour door, and walks me all the way through the Mint, past groups of tour guests, and finally to the shop, which by the way, is located right next to the exit door. Why not walk in through the exit door? Typical Government I guess.

Anyway, I have purchased coins there before. Latest purchase was a complete set of Presidential medals, the small ones, plus the folder for them.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there are several vendors on the sidewalk, just outside the exit door. Bought several coins from them because they were reasonably priced, at least on that particular day.

 

That was after 9/11.........now it's open again!

I ordered mine 3:00 pm the 1 st day and I had my sets by that fri. now thats fast!!! and none of my 21 sets were back ordered-- now the ms sets well thats a different story
