This Satin finish 2005 P from a US Mint Set looks like it has a dot behind Lincolns head. It looks like the die had some damage by a pointed article pushing in. I tried to get die chip out of it but it looks more like a puncture in 2005 P with dot.jpg 2005 P with dot OBV.jpg 2005 P with dot Rev.jpg the field.

You sure it isn't a plating blister? Looks to have some plating issues on the top and bottom parts of the obverse and the top of the reverse.

Well now that is quite possible and I should know better. Let me look closer. Thanks for the feedback.

BTW, how can I be sure without damaging the coin?

You could try pressing on it with a toothpick. If it moves/pops, it's a plating blister. I don't "think" that bit of pressure, if applied properly, would damage the coin if it weren't a blister. I really think it is a blister.

Here is the same shot after some pressure from a tooth pick. It looks to have changed some and, perhaps, it reduced and a small blister formed to the right and left. What are your observations?

I would consider that a plating blister then :)

Thanks for the help. I will put that in the memory bank if it still exists.
