2005 p kennedy

    hi all,,,,,

    was wondering if anyone could guess a grade on this,, and what its worth may be?
    it is a 2005 P kennedy satin finish. im thinkin its one of the special strikes????

    The coin was cut out of a mint set. It is worth less than $10. If it would grade at SP68 or SP69 then it would be worth a lot more. Most of these coins graded at SP66 and SP67. The satin finish was the special in the coin. Look for the Denver minted one also, so you have the matching pair.

    2005 was the first year of the Satin Mint Set, and I'm not sure how many of the half dollars graded SP69 or SP70. Your photos are a tad too blurry for me to tell. You might want to take a look at the NGC & PCGS Census figures for these grades. In any event, it would help if we had clear images.

    The satin finish is graded differently, they are very frosty and most of them would grade high, therefore a higher curve.

    NGC has graded 352 at SP68 and 202 at SP69 for the 2005P and 145 at SP68 and 15 at SP69 for the 2005D.
