Any ideas as to what type error this is? I discovered this and listed it on eBay with herein attached microphotos and description as best I can come up with (search for item 3968616260 if interested in following this curious coin) or look up rushcollectibles1 for a variety of regular and error/variety coins. Two of these have now sold on eBay, the first a $36 and the second at $59.88. Also provided info on this Bison to Coin World as News Release, but have not yet received response from them. News Release has also been provided to varietynickels.com.

On close inspection, this appears to me to be design flaw rather than a die chip or dent or whatever. Maybe the same person who did the Wisconsin Quarter is leaving their trademark here on the Bison nickel. Or maybe the ancient Native American spirits are hard at work. The D-Mint "Speared Buffalo" is another example that preceded this one -- I see there are two or more different ones of those now being offered, but the first one discovered by Pamela Ryman-Moir of Texas appears to be the best detailed and most popular. Can't believe 100+ looks here and not one reply. Would like to hear from some experts out there (or anyone interested in coins) -- Thanks![/QUOTE]
