Hi everyone again I need some guidance and your input/expert opinions on these kansas quarters First I have a 2005 P kansas state quarter the first 4 pics on the reverse on the face to the right of the buffalos eye a big lump and above his eye a third horn ....??? The 5th pic is a 2005 D kansas state quarter and if you look on the reverse above the top flower some type of gouges going along the curve of the flower not sure post damage or an error Let me know what you think
The mark above the flowers is where the coin has been struck by the reeded edge of another coin. The lump next to the eye could be a die chip, the horn I don't know. There is nothing listed on Wexler for a 2005 p state quarter
First thank you for responding @expat I am very new to this and totally clueless I know I haven't been able to find anything anywhere online on either one So that mark is pmd above the flower?
Not enough pictures! I agree.. The Buffalo has a small die chip. Small minor issue. The Flowers have a hit from another reeded coin. Damaged or PMD. I was kidding about not enough pictures.
Thank you @paddyman98 I was like damnnn it took me 5 hours to take and upload those pictures ....lol jk
I agree, definitely reed marks above the flower. But the horn could be a few things. It may be a die chip, distortion from a hit or from a worn die, or possibly even some slight doubling.
I have an MS 1921 Morgan with EXACTLY that type of bag mark. Sorry but I don't have a photo of it, but it's definitely a PMD bag mark from another coin.
Thank you for all your replies I apologize for taking this long to reply I am in the process of moving this weekend so I got crazy busy Also that's what I am curious about the third horn possibly and of course what it definitely could be @SorenCoins How would I be able to find this out?
I have quite a few coins I need to check into and will be doing so once I move this weekend So happy I found this forum and website you all have been extremely helpful Thank you again
Apologies on my lengthy response time; I have been so busy with school! Some of the pictures really do show it in a way that looks similar to some minor doubled dies. Of course it could be a die chip. Distinguishing the two could be a little difficult. If you have closer pictures those may help show the anomaly a little better!
