Wondering if anyone can tell me what they see on his neck? Is it a MM?

That's impossible, Rick. This coin has only been around since 2005.:wacky::wacky::wacky:

Can we get a better close-up of the area? Which SQ is it?

    It's a 2005 P Minnesota Quarter. I will try to get a close-up.

If you're referring to the mark to the right of LIBERTY, it's possible that it could be a dropped element, but I'd still need a better close-up.

A dropped element occurs when grease and debris builds up in a letter, is compacted (almost as hard as steel) from multiple strikes and eventually drops out of the die onto the incoming planchet and then is impressed into the surface of that planchet.

Sometimes, it remains in place and is considered a retained dropped element. Other times, it falls out and leaves a recessed outline of the letter.

Sometimes called a dropped letter, but, can be any ressesed area of the Die,
Makes it an element as ^Chris said^

    On the Adams Apple?
    Post Strike Damage
Too small to be a Dropped Element or Letter

It looks like a "D" to me

    D for Damage
    D for Dent
    D for Ding
Not clear enough for me :wacky:
But I don't think dropped elements could be that small
That's just my opinion. You could be correct @dwhiz

Oh, THAT letter. I didn't see that.

And, yes, the JF has appeared on the bust of Washington since 1932.

It's actually the same size as the MM.

A dropped element would be incuse on the coin. From the op's pics the anomaly appears to be in relief which would eliminate it from being a dropped D
