Anybody familiar with this coin? Found one on ebay. This coin is one of only 500 made! How much is this thing worth in the books? I am having a trouble finding info on the web with it. Is it worth more than the POS? Information appreciated.
Horrible strategy. I don't know the coins value, but advertising the coin on here isn't a way to get it for cheap....espcially if someone with more knowledge comes along and sees what it is you want to bid on. Just saying. You should research potential buys yourself.
Oh c'mon man you guys here at cointalk are like family to me! Well maybe not family but pretty darn close!:hug:Kiss I had tried to research it, but I just can't seem to find much about it. Don't worry about my strategy Mr. Alien surfer dude. Ill be just dandy all by my grown up self:hatch:
Well, it says it is circulated and only one side shows, so one has to wonder what happened to the other side. Perhaps a fingerprint?
So what do you guys think?? Satriani was right, another bid came on after I posted this thread. Coinsidence?? No worries it was only for $25 more. I just love the look of this coin and am very intrigued with the 500 mintage. What do you guys think about the price? Any isle of man experts here on cointalk that can provide some insight?
I can guarantee you it wasn't a bid by me. I don't online bid, and I'm only interested in Silver at this time. You should research the value yourself, or say you have something in your grandfather's collection and are wondering what it is worth. Remember, dealers come to this site and might try to cut you off at the pass. I'm not a dealer. I'd like you to get a good/fair deal and the seller to get a good/fair deal as well.
Keeping in mind that I'm not an expert on these, I suspect it is worth bullion value. The low mintage is probably intentional to give the appearance of scarcity. If you search, you may find that there are a lot of "low mintage" variations of this coin from the same source. It's a marketing gimmick. But this is only my opinion and I have no facts to back it up.
There are two sides to this issue: bullion value versus collectibility value. Many bullion pieces have relatively low mintage. Some feel that they are simply bullion whereas others feel they are collectable and have value over and above bullion value. It all depends on your perspective and what you like. Of course, a bullion coin could have a low mintage but if there is nobody (or very few) interested in it, then it would not have that collectibility value over and above bullion. BTW: I have both in my collection. I like world silver bullion for their designs (and low mintage) and am willing to pay in some cases above spot price for them. TC
Everything is collectible. If you like it, then bid and buy. If you know a lot about Isle of Man collectibles, then you are probably a leg up on us. But the shape of the metal and mintage alone doesn't make something a collectible and I don't think you will find many people here that would ever pay you a premium to bullion value.
It would be odd if there were interest in and demand for it that somehow didn't result in a Web presence you could find.
I think what the old boy is saying is, that if these issues were very popular and sought after there would be more information relating to them posted on the web....
