Nice find. But that is a common example of MD - Mechanical Doubling. It is considered worthless doubling and nothing to do with a true Doubled Die Variety.
Thank you. I need to learn the difference. My shift is slow, so i search through all the paper money and coins from three, 2 hundred dollar tills, for about 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, with my #10 magnifier, and am finding lots of interesting things.
Here's another website that explains the different types of doubling. http://www.error-ref.com/doubled-dies/
Nice job! And they pay you for your hobby and don't know it. I guess what ever it takes to stay awake.
It's called MD or mechanical doubling. It's so common it wouldn't surprise me if there are more coins with MD than without it. What a great job you have. Being paid to search coins.
Nice photos Workingwoman. I concur that it is MD. It's a nice keeper to use as a reference when comparing coins. Are you bookkeeper for a business? When I worked a Christmas job at a Weinstock's years ago, I too cashed out drawers and got to peek at currency and coins.
Answering your poll...it is doubling, just not the valuable kind. MD is the concensus, at first I thought DDD, until I saw the mint mark...Spark
