Found this quarter while inspecting my collection. It appears that perhaps the cladding from a previous strike pealed away and adhered to the die. Would appreciate any comments about being a possible error or if you can direct me somewhere else to get an opinion.

Looks a lot like glue. Is the deformity sunk into the coin or on top of the face of the quarter?

The area is raised and appears to be a separate piece of small metal adhered perhaps through diffusion bonding, this the best way I can describe it.

Hard to imagine it is metal attached to the coin as I can see the bridge of George's nose through the clear "metal". Looks like glue.

Props to mecha...after the challenge from his post I used an exacto knife and chipped off what appears to be an acrylic glue. Thanks for everyones input.
