2001 P Jefferson Nickel Possible RPM?

    Nope. Not possible. The mint marks were not hand punched into the dies.

    Yes, sir... I can't recall the exact year for nickels, but was well before 2001. Its also worth mentioning that a "doubled" mintmark is possible on such coins, but only in cases of a doubled die (1995-D 1C DDO is a well known example of this). Just to be clear to the OP, I'm not suggesting this is the case here.

    With only a quick search I could find but one mention of a known DDO for this date and mint....

    However, no mention was made of any "doubling" present on the mintmark. Not that another variety couldn't exist, but from your photos there's simply not enough evidence to say at this point. I see what you're talking about, but is more likely strike doubling or the like than what would be accepted as being a doubled die.

His address is located on John Wexler's site www.doubleddie.com under the "Submissions" category on the left side of the landing page. If you do send it in, please be sure to follow the submissions rules exactly or it will slow down their processing of your coin.

    what was the outcome? I just found a nickel and the P looks like yours Defenderone..
