I have this 2001 p dime volunteers. Possible mint Error. There are a couple sizable pockets in the queens face. There are signs of grease errors as well. Let me know what you think?
I put a couple in bw as well

The coin is actually in really good condition considering the appearance.

    Yes I agree damaged:)
but pmd or mint damaged? The indentations on the queens face look like the result of a grease error. As well as the grease streaks on the letters.
I’m guessing it was both pmd and mint Error.

When these coins came out of the mint into circulation they were already Errors on almost every dime in 2001. To find one without An error is like finding a 4 leaf clover.

do you have an official web page link for that "almost every dime" as I know nothing about Canadian coins.

but as you know, just looking at the edge/rim, that the damage done to that occurred after it was minted as otherwise the collar would prevent it from buldging out like it is.

To me, (one part of the damage) it looks like someone made a lighthardedly failed attempt at cutting it in half.

    Possibly,someone tried to cut it:)
    People get bored.
So let me rephrase what I said about “almost every dime”.

From my perspective;) millions of these came out with die groove errors. I have probably a hundred of these dimes I collected when they came out. I don’t think there is one that is perfect. It is listed on coinsandCanada.

    Die grooves from website

So yeah, I see the similarities of the "die grooves" from the online coin versus your coin. Though the online examples are much more pronounced.

Although I still think someone tried to cut it in half too.

When I did jewelry we used to create those friendship necklaces where the pendant is cut in half. Once in a while someone wanted a coin in half. So we'd cut it in half, drill a hole, add a chain and viola!! Then we got fancy and made them zig-zag though had to use a leather mallet to flatten again.

looks like someone tried using parallel anvil shears to cut it in half though from the flattened/bulged sections.

As always thank you all very much for your input:)

Also if you check ebay. You can buy one for $2.00-7.00 . Even in BU uncirculated and there is still an error on it.

That’s interesting about using the coins as jewelry. I never thought of it. That makes complete sense on how that cut got like that.
    Thank you

historically coins were used in jewelry a lot.
In addition to just drilling a hole in it they would put them in bezels or rings.

Kids always just wanted regular coins. But you can see here tons of various options although using more expensive coins
