I don't know whether you are winding us up or you seriously believe you have a special coin. Do you honestly believe the mint would make coins like that? The blather as you call it is a consensus of like opinions
Well I honestly believe government employees are lazy and mistakes are made. That's how chemical plants have explosions and people have car accidents. It may be different with the mint. I'm no expert but I've seen coins smashed to the point where they wouldn't fit in coin rolls due to mint damage for the couple of months or so I've shown an interest in the hobby
When we were little our mother had a dime similar to this I suppose, except it was most likely a mercury dime, and she passed it around to us kids and was sure it was mint damage and we would be rich. Well she mailed it off and we clung to that fairytale until we all sat around the table, opened the envelope and sunk into our chairs. It was post mint damage. I didn't want to think about coin collecting after that. But we still had Elvis on the radio. Lol
And I must honestly say that your comment is one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever read here on CoinTalk Take a tour of US Mint. I have and there were no lazy Mint Employees that I saw.. That's a no no in a Federal building position.
Do you know what the government spends money on? If you see the waste and fraud that is splashed online and in the papers every day I don't see how you can say my comment is so outrageous
Because I told you. And whatever I say is honest and trustworthy.. Anyway.. The consensus is that it is Post Mint Damage. Not an issue that occurred during the minting process. Welcome to CoinTalk - Mr. Ed Specializing in collecting Mint Errors since 1985
You have been told the truth. It's just damaged and only worth face value. It does not take an expert to see that.
blunt and simple in your face fact your coin would fall under post mint damage nothing else I've been collecting since 2003 and I have seen many post mint damaged coins in my life yours is just one of many I have seen yeah the mint does mess up sometimes but nowadays it's rare and to find a real world mint error in the wild is slim to none
