2000?? grease filled cent questions

    Some questions on this one... I believe this is grease filled, but why does it look like he's in a hail storm?... looks like there are fibers on the top of his head and in his neck, a rag maybe?... big hole behind his eye, what caused it?... no designers initials?... reverse looks normal. 2000obverse.jpg 2000obverse1.jpg 2000reverse.jpg

    Looks like a 1999 to me.

    Or possibly struck through a very worn cap die (I'm not sure this is the cause, but wanted to through it out there)

    To me it looks like glue or tape residue.

    Filled dies obv.

    I agree it certainly looks like a small piece
    of tape across the nose.

    The other marks are either just contact marks, or possibly
    minor struck thru's, but given the filled die occurrence, I'd
    say that they are contact marks, although there appears
    to be one area of a small struck thru thread. Hard to tell with
    those photos.
