Also scientific knowledge now is doubling about every 5 years, where as it was prob. doubling every 20-30 years.  However, Rice Univ. started a project which is now OpenStax ( <a href="https://cnx.org/" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://cnx.org/" rel="nofollow">https://cnx.org/</a>) with excellent books that can be downloaded and use for no charge in classes. My college has had a committee working on incorporating this for a few years, but the seduction of free tests, lecture notes, powerpoints, that the publishers offer with their, is difficult to resist still.[/QUOTE]
