Authorities have seized $200,000 in counterfeit $100 bills in two separate incidents at John F. Kennedy International airport.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers say on May 6, approximately $68,000 in fake bills arrived at the JFK Mail Facility from Peru. Officials say the money was found in file folders and children’s books. No arrests have been made in this incident.

Two days later, officers confiscated $141,200 in counterfeit bills from a piece of luggage during an inspection.

Authorities say the bag belonged to Katherine Velez who was traveling to New York from Cali, Columbia. She was taken into custody at the airport.
