I have moved the post to where it belongs Politics, Religion and World Events And once more I do like these coins
Moderators, Do You Think it would be possible to remove the recent Obvious Off Topic Material. I don't know it it was placed here with innocent or malicious intent but it is inappropriate.
Ben, So sorry that I got off the topic. Just got my "dander" up. I apologize for the outburst. De Orc, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! So glad that we can get back on the topic. BEN's beautiful coins!! And they are awesome Ben! Congratulations on getting them!! swick
Ben, Is 2005 the first year for the "ships" coin? Does the "series" only contain the 3 years (2005,2006,&2007) SO FAR? Thanks! swick
Just not traditional, and a bit silly. Why on earth put a hologram on a coin which has been engraved in a trash way just to push in the feeling of gimmick. Just look at some 17th century thalers or roman coins of hadrian to see what non gimmick coins are like. Most coins are not gimmicks, but that one is. Not a coin anyway-denominated medal.
No, I don't think so, it goes back to 2001, they've been doing them for a long time. http://search-completed.ebay.com/se...ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=2
I would say that all advancements in design and technology have been met in much the same way Gimmick LOL I can just see it now when they started with the milled coins, 'Not Traditional wont last' Beuaty is in the eye of the beholder
I would like to remind everyone that they are not stickers which are applied to the coin. They (the holograms) are actually milled 3-microns deep into the highly polished surface of the coin. Not sure how they do it but it wears out a lot of dies I understand. Ben
Nah I mean like you Yanks still cant put a simple set of letters on the edge of a coin without getting it wrong
Ok Bone, add that to "the will" under the BHD's for me. : ) I really liked that first one that you showed. I will have to grab one of them. Thanks for sharing
LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL - That's what I say! At least as a result of this forum I have a better appreciation of why... Ben - Very Nice Coins - It's amazing that they are able to achieve that effect without adding something to the surface. I love the theme - as I'm sure everyone already knows . Darryl
Thanks for posting this. I checked them out and not only decided to buy one for myself, but you gave us the idea for a birthday gift for my father-in-law who is tough to buy presents for. There have been holographic coins going back to 2001 as per one of the previous posts, but didn't the "Tall Ships" series begin in 2005?
