Moderators, Do You Think it would be possible to remove the recent Obvious Off Topic Material. I don't know it it was placed here with innocent or malicious intent but it is inappropriate.

    Ben,
Is 2005 the first year for the "ships" coin? Does the "series" only contain the 3 years (2005,2006,&2007) SO FAR? Thanks!

Just not traditional, and a bit silly. Why on earth put a hologram on a coin which has been engraved in a trash way just to push in the feeling of gimmick. Just look at some 17th century thalers or roman coins of hadrian to see what non gimmick coins are like. Most coins are not gimmicks, but that one is. Not a coin anyway-denominated medal.

I would say that all advancements in design and technology have been met in much the same way Gimmick LOL I can just see it now when they started with the milled coins, 'Not Traditional wont last' Beuaty is in the eye of the beholder :D

I would like to remind everyone that they are not stickers which are applied to the coin. They (the holograms) are actually milled 3-microns deep into the highly polished surface of the coin. Not sure how they do it but it wears out a lot of dies I understand.

LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL - That's what I say! At least as a result of this forum I have a better appreciation of why...

Ben - Very Nice Coins - It's amazing that they are able to achieve that effect without adding something to the surface. I love the theme - as I'm sure everyone already knows :D .

Thanks for posting this. I checked them out and not only decided to buy one for myself, but you gave us the idea for a birthday gift for my father-in-law who is tough to buy presents for.

There have been holographic coins going back to 2001 as per one of the previous posts, but didn't the "Tall Ships" series begin in 2005?
