I have been trying to work on my coin photo skills. I tried taking more pictures of my Augustus quinarius and JC denarius and here is how they turned out. I have also included the before shots. Before After Before After Let me know what you think
Good progress! The JC portrait is nicely captured. The Augustus would benefit from better lighting. It is possible to digitally tweak images but at a certain point it is better to just reshoot them. Here's the quinarius with considerable lightening: Based on your original images, I suspect this quinarius would respond favorably to being tilted slightly towards the light.
Thanks Bing. The colour is correct on Tif's version. On the JC the reverse is quite worn but I did not care. All I wanted was a presentable portrait and this one is quite good imho.
The JC obverse is well done. The reverse could use contrast. Try shooting the Augustus so you get the color right with out processing. A little more exposure and better sharpness would be great.
