2 phases of same error on 2004 nickel?

    Are you asking about the spot above the nose ? The spot looks to be struck thru something , maybe grease with mint residue mixed in it. Surely this coin is not pear shaped like in the photo. Oh by the way you should have made your own thread so as to keep the confusion down. Welcome to CT and good luck

    Yes, the spot above the nose is exactly what I'm talking about...I do not have a microscope and wish I did..my camera phone is horrible as well...but the picture was taking through a magnifying glass and captured the blemish/lamination error , however it is actually shiny in person.
    My father passed 16 years ago and this is one of many mint bags that were left to me. I decided to open it up and found roughly 50 coins with this exact marking..some more pronounced than others. I really wish I had a microscope to show the actual coin...it looks like light shining from Jefferson's eye..haha
    In the future I will try and post where appropriate.

    Out of a $50 mint bag..I found roughly 30 with this mark

    $50 mint bag? I know the mint sold roll sets of nickels in 2004, did they sell $50 bags as well? I don't remember those.
