Also like the animals, there are types of coins that once existed but none have survived until now. Of course someone could be digging somewhere and find one that was previously unknown. For that matter, they might find thousands of something making a rarity common. Ancient coins have many more rare or unknown types than modern coins made since record keeping became common. I always liked the guess of a million different ancient coins which matches the low estimate on the animal list for insects.
