Sign that paper money market is maturing? http://secure.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=26954
The market has been misbehaving. I like to look at educationals (1896 $1, $2, $5) notes as the best indicator of the market's state. They are relatively plentiful and in high demand. With super exotic notes like these, two determined buyers can drive the price to record heights on one day, or it can sell for kibble the next. As far as educationals, the peak prices were actually in 2008 during the recession. They continued very strong into 2009. Then they have been heading downhill steadily to the present day. There are definitely other factors at play. But there's been more than a 50% price drop in educationals since 2008/2009 to today. It's always interesting to watch.
does track and price give you graphical analysis of valuation of notes over time? I still havent gotten it, but Im considering getting it soon
Fyi, you can pick-up a BEP souvenir card for around $10, printed from the original plates of this $1000 note. About 0.00004 percent of the auction price. Just sayin.
