1c coloring -red tone & yellow spotting

    Why do some cents turn this red or yellow with spots ?? I have not come across too many red ones, this one and a 1959 and I have the 1965 that shows yellow spots -hope the picture helps IMG_1139.jpg IMG_1140.jpg IMG_1143.jpg IMG_1149.jpg

    Just normal oxidation toning. Circulation wear, oils from hands (such as yours), environmental exposure.. you can find all colors of copper depending on these different factors.

    By the way.. Do you understand the Cent color scale?
    A freshly minted Cent or one that has been kept in it's original color since it was minted is called a RED color. As the color changes it is considered Red Brown and then the darkest color.. Brown

    Interesting...I can't pin point right now which shade these two would fall under, but they do seem to be aging differently from the rest. I have in hands, literally from say 300 coins I am looking at only these two have the Red and yellow colors
