I guess it’s all about money for some. Really not sure what to think at times.

I agree with mountain man. As far I can visualize it , it would be odds similar to a volcano going off in Florida tonight ( almost inconceiveable geologically). Humans had to have a majority part in the huge production in the mint. Hope they fire all or make 30 million more of them to slow down such activity. Yeah, I know the experts are standing with it. I'll wait for a ride up from Ken Potter just like the hot lips on the Roosevelt dime turned out to be a Clash nothing to do with the DDO which I think this will be about the same I don't see any DDO here maybe a strike through from debris

Funny, not a variety expert has this listed as a ddo .

 

The only way that it could happen is if it is raised on the die. That would make it a variety not a DDO. This is not the same as a high leaf low leaf situation. Where the die was altered.
If you all remember the same year 2004 also had a doubled ear Roosevelt. It had the same mark as the high leaf/low leaf variety.

 

Most likely theory is damage to the working hub. Then striking a few working dies.
I’ve seen the extra “v” with die trials coming from the date, another with just the die chip on the forehead, and another example with a die clash.
Here’s the die trail one you can see the “v” just zoom in. And die trials evident.
The die clash one I can’t find images of but I know there are 3 different dies now.

 

Well I will agree with the damage idea, but with NGC quoting 30,000 does anyone expect they would agree?? MONEY is KING!!!! Jim

 

did ngc the sleeves quote 30k?
Only reason we see it up that high is the seller most likely doesn’t want to give up a very high grade 68 extra v for less or not get a lot of money for it.
So having it at 30k will make it sell for what the reasonable price would be if it’s offered like 1k maybe.
I’m very sure the seller doesn’t expect to get 30k for it.
Unlike the actual people on eBay that throw damaged coins up and ask thousands legit. The 30k is just a place holder and prob to show that there is one in 68.
