Hi Bruce -

The F and the G are very convincing that the coin is not a Wide AM (I didn't know that at the time I posted the initial pictures) ... It could be something else?? hehehe The coin was also quite dirty and I'm wondering if that didn't aid in there being visually a little more space than normal. All the shapes of the letters as well were consistent with a non-Wide AM ... but still it caught my eye. However, again when I put it up against my 1998 & 2000 Wide AMs, you could clearly tell it just didn't seem good enough of a space and usually when there is some doubt it's probably not legit. When I found my first 1998 Wide AM I have to admit, I had much less doubt immediately - and when I found a 2000 Wide AM about 15 minutes after I posted the picture for this 1999 potential - (I thought that quite amazing hehehe) there was absolutely no doubt I had a Wide AM by the space and the FG. So - in all it was a false alarm, but a quite odd coin. I put it in my box of oddities just in case in the future who knows?

Thanks for the help - as one can tell I love cherry picking, but still learning as I go. Cherry picking is one of the funnest things I've discovered to do. After 250,000 pennies searched, I have found some really interesting treasures! Also some mean and rude bank tellers along the way as well, but I just don't let their bad remarks get to me. Searching is so much fun!! Lately I've been on a tear too - Everything's been turning up - even a lot of wheaties. My last $50 bag had a 1907 BU Indian Cent (all 4 diamonds) in it (I was offered $30 for this coin, but it's so nice for a find I can't part with it right now - an absolutely stunning coin for a find - pics below) - a 2000 Wide AM - 22 Wheaties - (the best a 1929 S in VF condition) and a small handful of BU pre-1982 and post 1982 cents - ( I am collecting a pail of BU pre-1982 coppers and downt the road they're worth a lot of $$) and of course, the ALMOST 1999 Wide AM and of course, my favorite - 2 dimes! LOL - each one cost the grand total sum of one cent each!

Esky
