1999 Penny issue recurring

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by They_Call_Me_Opa, Feb 6, 2023.

  1. Doing some roll hunting I came across these three pennies with very similar cracks. At first I discarded it at a scratch, then I came across two more...each with more detail and worsening damage. I mean, what are the chances?!
Thoughts? Is it a die crack? (I believe I have them in the correct order to align the close-up with each coin)

Coin 1: looks like a regular PMD scratch next to "We"
Coin 2: similar type scratch above the eye
Coin 3: definitely a die chip above the eye going into the crack, and then another vertical behind the ear.

I'm not an expert, but they look like die cracks to me.

Yep, as Avalon said all are cracked skulls. The first has a spike head going from head to rim.

All are die cracks or a chip.
