1999-P CT 25c (GW's nose is on fire)

    Double Die I know just enough to be dangerous

    Came across a couple of these in a roll where it looks like George's nose is on fire. The marks are not scratches as they are raised on the field. What is the technical term for this type of markings?

    Possibly a clash from one of the reverse branches, but wait for a few more replies. There's more evidence of this just above the word "Quarter". @Fred Weinberg

    My guess is die cleaning marks...rather deep, though. I've seen much lighter marks on some First Spouse coins.

    I doubt they will sell for a premium...but definitely not PMD. It's nice that you have a set of them.
