Hello Everyone, I have this quarter where it showes on the obverse double on In God We Trust the word Library and Washingtons face also on the reverse, it's extremely hard to get good pics. Which is something I'm working on! Anyway while I was checking it over using a magnifier that I downloaded, it gives options to see the coin in different lighting, I will try harder if it's worth it to get pics with it, I noticed it has stars on his cheek bone and the thickness of his cheek and farhead is much thicker then on others quarters, so I checked it out more and found Columbus on the obverse left side of Washingtons mouth and the flag which is along side his eye on the obverse also, I wanted to ask, is it worth going into finding out weather it is a die clash, being it's not so obvious? I also can make out on the obverse the lettering of Jersey under the word America , then on his nose is an 87 from 1787, on the reverse you can see the impression of Washingtons hair on most of the men, the boat is imprinted on the rim, on the left side of the coin, sorry for being all over the place with my question, it was amazing to see all that I did, so even if it's not worth it, I'm still excited to see it, I actually believe from what I saw, looks like it possiably was altered from the clash, (hope I'm right with that term) thank you so much I'm advance. Dottie
It looks like machine doubling on a coin struck from worn dies. If it was a clash, you wouldn't see JERSEY Under AMERICA. Flip your coin and look to see which areas match up. If it was a clash, JERSEY would be under DOLLAR on the obverse Also notice all of the scratches and gouges on the coin. The marks you're thinking might be from a clashed die are just circulation damage. Hope the explanation helps.
