Hello CT World, Need your assistance once again, please Just got this 1999 D quarter in change..it seems to have a few errors "maybe". Obverse side has some bronze toning on the neck, heavy greasing, a small cud on the E of liberty, and a Double D. Reverse side has a raised bronze toning cud rolling off to the side. Is this all errors? Thanks as always for your time and help
That’s damage on the neck and no “heavy greasing”, just wear and a boatload of contact marks. There might be a slight IDB/die chip on the E/LIBERTY but it is inconclusive from your pic from your monitor screen. There is no doubled mintmark, but if it did it would be called a RPM. This also is impossible due to the implementation of the single-squeeze technique in the early ‘90s. If you are seeing a second D it is probably pareidolia. The cud on the reverse, given the extensive wear and damage on the rest of the coin, is more than likely more damage. The coin is only worth FV. you should spend it…imo…Spark
What do you suggest I get to better magnifiey? I have a loop but my phone doesn't work well with it when taking pictures
Get a USB microscope with 3 megapixels or better and learn how to use it; you want to use it with a computer so you can do it all: take pics that are stored and easily retrieved for posting or sending anywhere. 3 MP or better cuts down or eliminates altogether pixelation issues at higher magnification, like close-ups. @SensibleSal66 …has posted a setup using phone cams, he might post it again for you or you can search Coin Talk for his previous posts or those of others who also have good picture taking techniques. Personally, I sprung for a kinda expensive Celestron usb scope with 5 MP and (separately) a dual gooseneck variable lighting desk lamp that I attach diffusion filters to to cut down glare. It’s up to you what expense you choose, but I have solved most of my pic issues this way…best of luck to you…Spark
