Does anybody have any Series 1999 $5 star notes from the short print run of only 32,500? Were these printed only for sale from the BEP or also part of notes planned to be release into circulation? Ive looked at all the known dealers online and they dont have any listed on their site nor can i find any in post auction sales from heritage. Trying to find a reference of what one would sell for in ChCu/Gem. grade thanks.

In both the 1999 $5 and the 1999 $10, both Washington and Fort Worth began production with tiny runs of 35,200 stars. To my knowledge, no notes have been seen from any of those four runs--neither as circulation issues, nor as part of BEP premium products.

There are a number of other "missing" star runs like this, where the BEP reported printing a run but it was never seen. Not all of them are short runs, either--some are full runs of 3,200,000 notes. For what it's worth, here are the inexplicably missing runs I'm aware of:
    $1 1988A I..* run 4 (I09600001*-I12800000*)
    $1 1995 E..* run 2 (E03200001*-E03840000*)
    $1 1999 H..* run 2 (H03200001*-H03840000*)
    $2 1976 B..* run 4 (B01920001*-B02560000*)
    $5 1999 BE..* run 1 (BE00000001*-BE00035200*)
    $5 1999 BF..* run 1 (BF00000001*-BF00035200*)
    $5 1999 BK..* run 1 (BK00000001*-BK03200000*)
    $10 1999 BE..* run 1 (BE00000001*-BE00035200*)
    $10 1999 BF..* run 1 (BF00000001*-BF00035200*)
    $10 1999 BK..* run 4 (BK09600001*-BK12800000*)
    $10 2001 CK..* run 1 (CK00000001*-CK03200000*)
    $10 2003 DK..* run 1 (DK00000001*-DK00320000*)

The other situation you asked about--where a star run is printed for collector sales rather than for circulation--is less common; I only know of three for sure:
    $1 2001 K..* run 2 (K03200001*-K06400000*) - the "Lone Star note"
    $10 2003 DA..* run 1 (DA00000001*-DA00416000*) - uncut sheets
    $10 2004A GF..* run 1 (GF00000001*-GF00009600*) - uncut sheets

Several other star runs were released in uncut-sheet form too, but in most of these cases, it's unclear whether or not any part of the run was released to circulation directly:
    $1 1999 E..* run 2 (E03200001*-E03840000*)
$2 1976 lots of different runs - definitely issued for circulation too
    $2 1995 F..* run 1.2 (F00512001*-F00640000*) - definitely issued for circulation too
    $5 2003 DG..* run 2 (DG03200001*-DG03520000*)
    $10 1995 F..* run 2 (F03200001*-F03520000*)
    $10 2004A GB..* run 1 (GB00000001*-GB00640000*)
    $10 2004A GL..* run 1 (GL00000001*-GL00128000*)
    $20 1996 AL..* run 3 (AL06400001*-AL07040000*)
    $20 2004 EA..* run 1 (EA00000001*-EA00320000*)
    $20 2004A GA..* run 1 (GA00000001*-GA03840000*)
    $50 2004 EG..* run 3 (EG06400001*-EG07040000*)

There, wasn't that more than you wanted to know?

That was more then i wanted to know but exactly what i needed to know thank you. I was out coin store browsing and visited several stores...saw alot of different notes and serial numbers. After reading your reply and a phone call to the coin store i visited to get the exact serial numbers and series ive learned its not the 35,200 print run i was hoping it was going to be but the print run of the one that follows it 128k (1999 $5 BE03,200,001-3,328,000). He has it priced at $60 but said he'd take $50 for it and sounded like he wants to get rid of it. Which i thought was below book value and i good deal but then again am guessing since am not familar with these BEP special issue star sets.

In addition to that he also has the 1995 $5 Atlanta BEP star note issue (384,000 print run) as well the matching star note set of the 1993 $5 (G00018258* 128k run) and 1995 $5( F00018258* 384k run). This matching set was priced at $95 and with alittle good negotiating skills i beleive he'd come down even lower.

Makes me wonder if the BEP will ever sell some of these MIA notes through the BEP Money Factory store... That would be cool. I see it as a high possibility, after seeing them release and sell the 1995, 2001, 2009 $10 Philly set in 2012. Does anybody know if the BEP Money store has ever specifically sold any star notes? Actually, now that I think back, even I have a tan star note folder that I believe once held a '93 or '95 $5 G-* or F-* in it. It does have a small explanation of stars in it.

I believe that you are thinking of this:

The BEP also did the "$1 Lone Star Note":

    The Independence $2:

    The Millennium Note:

The $2 Evolutions Series 2003 $2 Minneapolis Set:

Wow! I sure missed out on some beautiful BEP Money store pieces! The only two of those I've ever seen would be the top 3. I forgot about the Lone star and the Independence $2 *. Thanks for showing me those, Clay.:thumb:

The $2 Evolutions Series 2003 $2 Minneapolis Set is one of my favorite sets.

Oh boy my memory is terrible. I own the '01 $50 E-*! And I'm already trying to find the 2003 $2 Evolutions set. I think it looks exceptional!

That one's an interesting case. Those "Lone Star Note" folders are the only source of 2001 $1 K..* notes; none appear to have been issued for circulation. And it's not at all clear how many of them were sold, either. The BEP reported printing a full run of 3,200,000 stars, but based on the observed serial numbers, it looks like they may only have released about 128,000. (The last five digits of the serial have been 96xxx or higher on every example I've seen.)

I have 100 notes of thee
Scanned one of my $5 1999 BA.....notes. Printed a sheet of 11 x 8.5 paper with the notes obv and rev images. Is there an embedded code that cause the business ink-jet printer to print additional data?

You have 100 notes of what, exactly? One of the tiny 32,500-note runs, or just 1999 $5 stars in general? The 1999 $5 BA..* was a full run of 3,200,000 notes; it isn't the rare star that started off this thread (a year ago).

I have a stack 1999 $5 star notes printed Fort Worth. they are not scarce. The photocopy was made on a sheet of check paper so there was [repeat] so the was no embedded image or code to generate an additional image

What is a 1999 $5 Star BF 18812483 and a 2003 $5 Star DL 01164348 never reported by the BEF worth?

Not sure what you mean about "never reported by the BEP"--those two star runs were reported in January 2003 and March 2005 respectively.

A bit of advise for collectors.

Although the BEP folders display the star notes quite nicely, I highly recommend that you remove the notes from the folders that hold the note by tucking the corners into the 4 slits. Long term storage could inflict corner bends into the note.
