1998 WIDE AM, PLease, Please, LOOK

I think baseball and the card companys' greed hurt baseball cards. I grew up collecting. I even briefly got back into it a few years back.

A handful of companies producing cards with the occasional insert was all we needed. Not 20-30+ with branched out divisions of the same companies producing more and more 'special sets' every year. Pretty soon collectors are divided into groups that are no longer interested in large portions of what's available. Too much supply. Not enough demand. And as you say, like with everything else, too few $$ chasing anything these days.

On top of that, I don't know how many times I got burned once I got back in, buying up expensive rookie cards just to have news come out that the player was on HGH, steroids or had a corked bat. Not to mention injuries hurting careers. Then the values crash. I sold a BGS 8.5 94 SP A-Rod rookie in anticipation of news coming out that he would be on something. Got my money back out of it. A couple years later we come to find out he was on the juice as well. The card's worth about 50% of what it was now. Will it ever come back, who knows?

It's a shame, but I don't blame the collectors or ebay.

Nice find on the 98 wide A M btw. I always keep an eye out for these but I thought they were worth a lot more.
