1998 Lincoln cent - ear dbl.

Is this cent a double ear lobe error?

  1. would like to get a confirmation on this possibly being an extra ear lobe from my pocket change. Can somebody at least explain the situation right here and that's it if it's not the a double lobe? Thx

    I don't believe it is and only know of 1984, 1988 Lincoln cents with doubled ear. Here is an example.

    Your's looks more like the lobe took a hit making it appear to be a doubled lobe.
    Maybe some of our more Lincoln expert experienced members will chime in.

    Thought I had one like yours, but it was a hit. Yours looks more like a doubled ear to me because of the raised ridge going down the length of the ear. Obviously, my opinion doesn't mean much, but I thought I'd throw it in.

    Machine Damage that has gained patina and softened a bit. This is a common area to find MD when it's on the profile.
