    Hey guys,

Its been a little bit since the last post but came across something interesting on the reverse of a 1997 Lincoln cent. I have seen coins with similar marks on different areas, but none like this one. At first glance, it seems to look as if it came from the memorial building on the master die when it was minted, but I am not sure, that is just a guess. I don't know the error name, if one, so sorry for being vague. If anyone can shed some light on what this is, or if its special in any way, I'd greatly appreciate it! If it isn't special, that's ok too haha.

    Thanks for looking!

Looks like a linear plating blister to me. Just happens to be parallel to the memorial.

Nope.. I agree with linear plating bubble. Nothing major and nothing to do with the master die.

If it was on the master die, then it would have been transferred to the working hub which would have transferred it to every working die for that year. That means it should be on all 1997 pennies struck at the Philly Mint. ~ Chris
