1997 D. Extra column?

    There are a number of extra columns for the 1997 D but I don't believe this is listed. If not an extra column, maybe a die gouge? Bay 8.

    I won't say no but it could also be a plating issue. I'm sure there are possibilities for new finds even after all these years. I have found nearly a dozen new doubled dies various years from 1998-2006 just in the past few years. So it is possible.

    I vote plating issue. Just reinforces my not bothering to look at Zincolns at all.

    Yes, Zincolns are a challenge. I think I'm leaning towards a die gouge. Thanks for your input!

    That's possible also. Can you see anywhere else where there may have been a clash that was being worked on? Check inside the rest of the columns, top left, lower left & bottom right under the base of the Memorial. These are usually the places where a clash would show. If there are some remnants then it's quite possible it's a die gouge.
