I'm guessing die gouge but what is your opinion? It's raised. Edit...computer did not keep up with my typing "Nickel".
I would guess die gouge also. Mint employees seem to have a lot of motor control issues. Maybe the mints should issue them grog rations?
Thanks! It's been tough finding errors in this series no matter how many rolls I search. Usually a full box might get me 20 die cracks but always at the base of the memorial. And almost always Philly coins. And also very common to find, considering I've yet to find a Denver error.
As regular as the feature is, I almost wonder if it's an impression of struck-through wire on the die?
I wasn't thinking struck through as most I've found have been incuse. Is it possible to have a struck through wire or similar being raised?
If it's hard-enough steel wire, yes, it'll impress the die itself which then strikes a positive onto the coin.
