I can see doubling on "95" and mintmark Closest I can get with photo. Hopefully you can zoom in to see doubling Obviously not a CNECA DDO-003. Any comments?
It's Die Deterioration Doubling. Considered worthless doubling and not related to a true Doubled Die variety.
Yep, die deterioration doubling…that plating doesn’t look split to me. Not being split, here is a way to look at how it happens to get this appearance: …at a million strikes per die set, the first 500K is not going to show anything but very minor deviation. But towards the 900K the detail is showing the deterioration, evident in the date and mint mark at the perimeter due to the convex face of the die. So, you could say this coin was in that last 900K to the end of the use of the die. Now, I am not a die expert, but I try to apply logistics as to why a coin appears such and such, and this seems a logical reasoning as to why it happens. …imo…Spark
I’ve done that too. There are more traces of deterioration next to the rim between 2K and 4K, above the lettering of IGWT and actual split plating on the last T/TRUST. We would have seen it better with some close-ups…imo…Spark
Thanks, I’m trying not to answer to many on CT due to a new RX. Yesterday was my last dose but it makes reading difficult as things are blurring and not as clear as usual. The pics I’ve recently posted probably show that. Lol
As long as you’re clear: you aren’t the Lone Ranger. Plenty of us have made sight errors…it’s going to happen when pics drive your forum… …the important thing is for you to do what the doctors says, convalesce and get to feeling better. Relax and get better, we will do the heavy lifting when we can and look to have you back to full speed asap…imo…Spark
Thanks Spark. I have good days and bad days. I bit better at the present time. In about 3 weeks we Ho to find out what the doctor wants to do. Tomorrow I need to go get another urine test. If all is well, blood tests later. I appreciate your asking.
As noted, die deterioration leading to a ghost like image. That said, the 1995 D is one of those dates/mms to check closely. While not as well known as the 1995 Philly DDO, it’s the most valuable.
