Can someone please help this new coin lover out. I’ve been learning and doing my homework but this is terribly frustrating!! About the time I think I’ve identified something amazing I’m right back to idk crap, lol. Am I seeing a double die variety, mint error or vending machine damage?? and this is my first post so go easy on me!

    Welcome to CT.
Sorry but you won't learn much from those images. Nothing is in focus.

From what I can see, and it's not much, it looks as though the doubling you see is DDD or die deteriorating Doubling. You have 2 photos of a letter near the rim that looked stretched out. This is common on a worn die.

    Welcome to CT.

    Was I gentle enough? Lol

No.. And since you are new to collecting the correct numismatic terminology would be Doubled Die.. not double die.

Thank you and I will definitely look into the link you shared with me ... especially focusing in on the “doubled die” information

@redheadsrn. I'm using my phone right now so from what little I can see, you can look up "die trails" on error-ref.com. If I were home I could post photos of examples that can be found on that site.

What causes the blue field of the picture? Can't really tell with those pictures. Better pictures of Reverse and Obverse would help. Thanks for coming to the party.
