I found two 1995s in a customer wrapped roll, I think they maybe DDOs, but not sure. Have attached some photos of the first cent. My eyesight's not real good and I don't have a microscope (yet)
Here's the 2nd 1995 possible DDO cent. Not sure if its maybe some machine doubling, or the real thing.
To be honest, I can't tell mostly due to the lighting. WB, go to this URL and use the little magnifier circle to look at each letter of LIBERTY, and that might help you tell. Jim https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1995-1c-doubled-die-obverse-bn/3125
Please provide close-ups of the areas you suspect doubling. Otherwise, I see possibly worn die, split plating and lighting glare issues...imo...Spark
I went to the PCGS site and can see the doubling on Liberty and In God We. But I was thinking there may be different levels of doubling. My guess now is that someone thought they had 2 DDRs, found out otherwise and rolled em up! Thanks for the feedback.
"But I was thinking there may be different levels of doubling." There can be different levels of doubling, but the factor of being a doubled die or just "doubling" is the important one. It is not the presence or size, but its whether the die was squeezed slightly off on the 2nd squeeze ( 1995 and before) Read this and you can see examples. https://www.doubleddie.com/58222.html Coins after this were made by a single squeeze process and are called "doubled dies" by some and mostly disregarded by most. The article will explain a little more. Jim
Different levels of doubling, lol. We're looking for die doubling, Whistler. There are no "levels." It's either die doubling or it ain't. And these ain't. Here's another resource for when you finish with the one our good moderator just gave you. Get busy, you can't go wrong with these, just trust us. Or if you can't trust me, trust him. https://doubleddie.com/58222.html EDIT: Oh wait, it's the same one. Well, read it twice, it won't hurt you none, lol.
The 95 DDO is the only DD variety type that I stand a fighting chance of finding in rolls. Will keep plugging away and with some luck maybe one will turn up. Thanks for the interesting link!
Take a look at this link. Plug in "1995" and check the box for doubled die obverse. You'll see the listings for the date and what to look for. When you get fine specimens like the ones above, it pays to look closely, match the doubling and the markers. High grade specimens have a nice premium. Look at those for the 1995 D 003. Now that would be a serious find!! Advanced search - coppercoins.com
Look at the 1972s and 1972-Ds! You'll find one, if you're doing any volume. And a lot of these are nice ones.
